Discord has a pedophile problem and its worse than you think
For an embarassing amount of time pedophiles have been successfully grooming, extorting and threatening children on discord. The platforms decisions and "fixes" to this issue have created more harm than good. Multiple families and childhood have been destroyed this way.
Since discord has proved they will solely do the bare minimum just to not get sued - You, server owners and mods need to step in to make your server safer for children. This is something no bot can do for you, that's why having human staff in your place is still undeniably the foundation in making safe servers.
How to make your server safer for children
Age verification to not allow adults/children on your server is logistically impossible, so what can You do to fix that horrifying issue?
Educate your members
Teach your members about how they shouldn't trust anyones age as everyone can turn out to be a 30 year old basement living degenerate. Teach your members about how they should never under any circumstances meet a stranger from the internet alone, without parental agreement and supervision
Don't pretend the problem doesn't exist
Never hide from your members that for example you banned a potential pedophile Openly state how you enforce anti-pedo measures - that alone could scare someone off
Notify the authorities
If you do have proof someone was grooming a member of your server, extorting them, etc. don't wait and contact your local police station and inform them about the situation.
Be a friendly person for your members
Be a person that your members can go to whenever something bad happens. Don't be invisible, interact with them and let them know you're there for them. That way the chance of you finding out about stuff happening on DM's is higher.
Following these steps should make your server safer for the little ones. Remember that discord is a 13+ application and children will get onto your server whether you want it or not.
